hibernation

hey, I received an email asking me about my blog and realized I should leave an explanation.

I am taking a break from the internet world (except for school) and sort of the social strings attached to everything. there have been a number of horrible things that happened the past year, and I thought it would end with 2009, but it's dragged on due to a decision hastily made through emotion. I need to get my life back together and create memories that aren't tainted with depression as they have been for the past year. I want to thank you all, especially the readers who comment, because it really makes blogging worth it to meet people like you online. it's so comforting to know that I'm not alone, something else that has been driving me deeper into a hole. there's someone I still want to give a chance but I don't know if he wants to give himself one anymore.

I've privatized my Twitter as well, so I'm not sure who can still see it, but no need to even think about it because it's temporary as I will return.

so I leave you with this little post:

I got my nails painted a light shade of gray, I really like it. and my sister gave me this cross ring from F21 that was also on sweetarrow

hopefully my hair will be longer with some color in it next time I'm here!

so now I guess I'll go back to listening to Lady Gaga's Brown Eyes and feeling pathetic and lonely.

P.S. I posted the eczema tips, but it's two posts below instead o_0

P.P.S. I'll still receive all your comments, but they'll be in my comment moderation folder. <3

I'd like to say thanks for all the feedback on the upcoming eczema post! I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested... it's currently in the works!

one of my favorite sweaters, picked up from nordstroms (I also have it in purple :X)

rings from left to right: james avery saddle ring on top of mom's ring, hs class ring, sister's ring, cameo ring from Malta, spoon ring off Ebay

nail polish color: "nonfat soy half caff" by sephora for opi with hot topic glow in the dark layered on top

went shopping today and realized I basically picked up an entire outfit... lol. so I wore it all together:

(black coat not from F21)

I love the pleather on this bag... it feels almost real but also extremely smooshy and soft and wrinkly and pebbly to perfection. was also swayed by a cream bag and the imitation Ann D sandals.. might return tomorrow to pick them up X_X oh and I actually bought black cords; the black pants are just some random black jeans from the site

asked this on twitter and no response yet so perhaps someone here will know...? *hopeful*

eczema tips

having been haunted by eczema my entire life, I know how horrible it can be to have wildly sensitive skin. here are a few tips that I have picked up over the years. I'll start with the more usual ones that everyone with sensitive skin should know by now

1. always moisturize directly after bathing. as soon as you pat your body dry, you should be ready to lotion yourself to death. especially in the winter time!

2. be aware of the things that can cause a flare-up. for example, I didn't realize my shampoo was probably the cause of the eczema on my face. I now use DHS clear shampoo, which is surprisingly one of the best shampoos I've ever used! my dermatologist also told me to quit my medicated chapstick and stick to regular ol' vaseline. so shampoo, laundry detergent, perfume, toothpaste, makeup, anything that touches your skin. which leads me to my next point:

3. stick to the brands that work for you. if you aren't getting any reactions from what you're currently using, then stay with your routine. I know it's hard to resist the beautiful world of cosmetics and clever packaging, but for me, it's basically CeraVe lotion and vaseline. for foundation, I am planning on staying with Chanel's compact. I forgot what it's called but it's dewy and moist and works amazingly - a little really goes a long way. when trying new brands, remember to look for "sensitive skin" stuff.

4. see your dermatologist!

5. pills you can take that will help over time: vitamins (of course), pro bacteria, grape seed, omega 3, 6, and 9 which are in fish oil / flax seed. I also take a lovely various assortment of Chinese herbal detox pills.

6. cortizone is not the answer. in order to fully rid of eczema, you have to dedicate yourself to being fully healthy.

7. in case of a BAD flare-up (one that doesn't go away for days) definitely see your dermatologist and get the medicine you need and try to keep note of what might have caused the reaction. foods, environments, etc.

8. in case of a flare-up you feel you can deal with, put some aloe on it or whichever cream your derm recommends. cortizone creams can be really bad for you and even leave noticeable changes in your skin - over time it can make your skin more leathery and white.
